Alcohol Ink Bookmark

I am having so much fun playing with my alochol inks from Ranger. I am so glad I dusted them off and started playing. They are messy and so versatile!

I made this little bookmark just because, but decided I am going to send it off with a card to a friend who has a birthday coming up. I started with a basic vanilla tag from Paper Reflections that I got in the Hot Spot at Archivers. Using Latte, Caramel, and Ginger alcohol inks, along with some gold mixative and some blending solution, I covered the tag completely. I dried the inks using my heat tool, then stamped the create image from Hero Arts using Staz-On ink twice onto the tag so that it would cover the whole thing. Next, I covered a vanilla flower from Hero Arts using the same ink combination and then added a black button and some Scrapper's Floss and then tied on some raffia ribbon and added some plain black ribbon to the top.

I just love the way the mixatives make this tag shimmer. The ink completely bled through to the opposite side of the tag, but it's still a really nice effect and actually gives the back of the bookmark some added interest. Just make sure that you are working on a craft mat or a piece of cardboard when using alcohol inks, or they will stain your work surface.

Fun with Alcohol Inks

I have been watching Jennifer Mcguire's Thinking Inking videos over at Two Peas and was inspired to break out my alcohol inks and start using them on cards.

On this card, I took some glossy paper from Ranger and stamped my image from SU!'s Fresh Cuts set using Top Boss embossing ink and then embossed the image using SU! white embossing powder. Then, I combined Current and Slate alcohol inks, along with some silver mixative and applied them over the image using my took from Ranger. I zapped it with my heat gun once more to dry the ink and then I stamped the Thank You from the same set using Staz On black ink.

I also applied the same color combination of alcohol inks and mixative to a white flower from Hero Arts and a clear button.

I added some green paper at the bottom that I punched using my eyelet border punch from SU! and some pink ribbon from Offray and then adhered everything onto Basic Black cardstock for some contrast.

Jennifer, thank you for inspiring me to use some of the products that I have sitting around but never got around to using.

You are My Sunshine

I got a chance to play with some Ranger alcohol inks the other day. I have had a few colors in my stash for quite a while, but just never used them on a card. I bought some earth tone colors at Archiver's the other day and mixed them with some gold mixative and used them on the large circle for this sunshine stamp from Unity's July KOTM. I also used the same colors to die a white flower from Hero Arts. The gold really shimmers in the flower and I love the effect! I also used some gold embossing powder on the corners using this flourish stamp from Unity's May KOTM.

I love this song. It makes me think of my sister. I used to have it on a music box and played it all the time when I was missing her. She does make me happy when skies are grey!
