Butternut Sage Challenge #1

Hi everyone! I am so sorry I've been so silent lately. As most of you know, my family just relocated to Colorado Springs on June 7 and things have been extremely hectic lately. Between traveling and staying in temporary housing and getting settled, little time has been leftover for blogging. The good news is that we are almost finished settling in and I will be uploading lots of photos and providing updates on the latest news.

For my first card in our new home, I decided to tackle Donna's challenge. Donna has a very special place in my heart. Not only is she uber talented, but she and I have developed an email friendship and although I have never met her in person, she's become very special to me and I thought it appropriate that my first card in Colorado be for her challenge, since she's been such a great electronic shoulder to lean on during this transition.

The challenge was to make a card using just ink and stamps. No embelishments, no dsp, no ribbon, just the basics. This was indeed a challenge for me, but the whole point of challenges is to stretch you, right?

Jay took the girls out on a date last night to dinner and a movie so I had some "me" time. I went and had a sandwich at Jason's Deli and then spent an hour and a half browsing (and made a few purchases also) at Archiver's and signed up for an upcoming class as well. Boy, do I love Archiver's! When the store closed, I came home and popped in a DVD and sat down at my desk and tackled this challenge. I started off with a piece of Kraft cardstock and using a sponge and Riding Hood Red classic ink, I stamped over mini masks from Tim Holtz. Next, I stamped the bird image from Inkadinkadoo's Best Friends stamp collection in chestnut ColorBox chalk ink. I stamped the sentiment from Unity's June KOTM in the same ink and did some faux stitching using a gel pen. I glued the panel to some Riding Hood Red cs to finish it off and that was that!

Donna, thank you for the challenge, and for being such an inspiration. And I am not referring just to your cards :).
